The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced the schedule of the Pakistan Super League PSL 5 2020 knockout stage fixtures that were delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Pakistan Cricket Board has announced that the four postponed matches of Pakistan Super League 5 will be held in November this year. All four matches will be played in Lahore.
It may be recalled that Pakistan Super League 5 was held in February-March this year but due to the corona virus situation, the Pakistan Cricket Board had to postpone the event to March 17 with four matches left in the series.
According to a press release issued by the Pakistan Cricket Board, these matches will now be played on November 14, 15, and 17.
According to the schedule, Multan Sultans will play Karachi Kings in the qualifier match on November 14 and the winning team will make it to the final.
On the same day, Lahore Qalandars will face Peshawar Zalmi in the first eliminator.
The team that loses the qualifier on November 15 will face the winner of the first eliminator, while the final of the series will be played on November 17.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has said that these four PSL matches will be played under the protocol of Code 19 where all the players, match officials, and other staff will be kept in a bio-secure environment.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has said that the current program is to play all matches in a closed stadium without spectators, but a final decision will be made in October.
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief executive Wasim Khan said that the announcement of PSL’s postponed match schedule has given the franchises ample time to prepare for the matches.
Wasim Khan says that the Pakistan Cricket Board wanted from the beginning that the winner of this event should come forward.
International cricket in Pakistan:
The Pakistan Cricket Board has also announced the resumption of cricket activities in the country after the situation in COVID-19 improved.
In the first phase, training facilities for the players are being resumed at the High-Performance Center in Lahore and in this regard, all the necessary instructions regarding Code 19 will be followed.
The Pakistan Cricket Board has also announced a domestic cricket season, which includes the T20 Cup and the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy.
Two foreign teams, Zimbabwe and South Africa are also scheduled to visit Pakistan this season.
The Zimbabwean team is scheduled to arrive in Pakistan in November to play a series of three ODIs and three T20I matches, while the South African cricket team is scheduled to visit in January 2021 to play two Tests and three T20I matches.

The team of one of the biggest city in Pakistan failed to live up to the expectations of their fans. Karachi Kings, considered as one of the best team in Pakistan Super League failed to perform well in all previous editions of PSL. With players like Babar Azam and Mohammed Amir in their team, they failed to perform in the previous editions of PSL. For PSL 2020, Karachi Kings have appointed Dean Jones as their coach. Dean Jones will have Wasim Akram alongside him. With a strong management team, Karachi fans are expecting big from their team.

In all previous editions of Pakistan Super League, Lahore Qalandars failed to reach the play-offs stage of the tournament. In PSL 2020, Lahore Qalandars are going to play most of the matches in Lahore and with home ground advantage, fans expectations are high for this PSL. They have made some good inclusions in the squad for PSL 2020 but some Lahore Qalandars are not happy with their captain choice. In PSL draft, the owner of Lahore Qalandars announced Sohail Akhtar as their team captain. They have also traded Usman Khan Shinwari from Karachi Kings in the diamond category.

In PSL 2018, Pakistan Cricket Board added one more team in the tournament, making it a six-team tournament. The team was bought by Schön Properties. Before the PSL 2019 draft, the Multan Sultan owners were failed to pay their annual fee of US$5.2 million to PCB which results in contract expiration. Ali Khan Tareen and Taimoor Malik won the rights of the team in 2018 but they were unable to participate in the draft of 2019 PSL. This year they have made some inclusions in the squad and with Andy Flower as a coach, Multan Sultans fans have high expectations.
