A special court hearing the constitution and high treason trial against former military president Pervez Musharraf handed death sentence. Pervez Musharraf’s death sentence because of violation of the constitution of Pakistan.
Treason case: The most important case in the history
Pervez Musharraf violated the constitution on November 3, 2007. and suspend the constitution and implementation of the emergency in the country. However, this is the first time in the history of Pakistan that a person convicted of violating the Constitution.
Special court comprising Justice Seth Waqar, Justice Nazar Akbar and Justice Shahid Karim heard the short verdict on Tuesday morning. So, this is a majority decision and two of the three bench members decided to execute while one member disagreed.
The verdict states that General (rtd.) Pervez Musharraf’s trial is a breach of the constitution and under Article 6 of the Constitution.
According to Constitution of March 23, 1956, ” a person who abrogates or subverts or suspend the Constitution by using of force or show of force or by any other unconstitutional means”. He will be considered a high traitor and will be sentenced to life imprisonment or death sentence.
The court’s decision prompted intense anger lot of pain and anguish among Musharraf’s followers.
The Pakistani military’s Response:
After the court’s verdict on Tuesday, a written statement issued by the military spokesman ISPR,” General Pervez Musharraf serve the country for over 40 years cannot be a traitor”.
Pakistani army says in response to the ex-Pakistani army chief’s death sentence for violation of constitution that General Pervez Musharraf cannot be a traitor in any case who served country. He has fought wars for the country, he can never be a traitor.
Army spokesman says ‘ in the case, constitutional and legal requirements not fulfilled completely. The basic right did not give him. Under the constitution of Pakistan, Pak Army expect General Pervez Musharraf justice.

Reaction of political parties:
Opposition parties have welcomed the decision, while the federal government says will take stand only after review of the decision.
Prime Minister’s Assistant Special Firdous Ashiq Awan said after the court’s verdict that the government will look into the decision. The government will then disclose its statement to the media in this regard.
She said that Prime Minister Imran Khan is returning home tomorrow and he will decide on the ground facts and relevant laws. However, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader and Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry criticized the decision in his message on Twitter.
